Custom Acoustic Instruments...
I build to custom order and also sell my prototype instruments when
available. – see instruments for sale in the Gallery –
I build Mandolins – A and F style, Mandola Carved or Flat top style,
Dulcimer and Hammered Dulcimer, Banjos Tenor 4, 5 and Long scale.
The Acoustic guitars I build are sold as prototypes as I
prefer to try out new ideas and not custom order. Every guitar
can come out different, so I am still equating the information
relating to build style, strutting and type of wood.
The woods I generally use are as follows.
Body
- Mahogany
- Walnut
- Maple
- Rosewood
- Koa
These wood will be fully Seasoned, Stable and always quarter sawn.
Neck
- Mahogany
- Walnut
- Maple
- Rosewood
- Cedar
Fully Seasoned and Stable, 1 piece quarter sawn or laminated construction.
Fingerboard
- Rosewood
- Ebony
- Maple
Fully Seasoned, Stable and always quarter sawn.
Front
- Cedar
- Pine
- Spruce
- Mahogany
Fully Seasoned, Stable and always quarter sawn.
The choice of grain grade is yours, as is the standard of inlay, bindings
and hareware.
